IT’S FINALLY HERE!!!! We’ve been anxiously waiting to see what JAL’s new A350-1000 cabins would look like and we finally know! For background, Japan Airlines ordered new A350-1000s with the intention that the A350-1000s will replace their 777-300 ERs as the flagship product of the airline.
Currently this new A350-1000 is scheduled to fly between New York (JFK) and Tokyo (HND) as JL 5/6 and will have service starting later this year. Full details are found in this press release.
First Class
The new first class will feature 6 seats in a 1-1-1 configuration. This is fewer than the current 8 seat 1-2-1 configuration found on the 777-300 ERs today. However, the new seats will feature a door and a double bed with the following measurements.
- wall height: 62 inches
- seat pitch: 83 inches
- seat width: 48 inches
- bed length: 80 inches
- monitor size: 43 inches

The seat will have 3 main modes: sofa, seat & single bed, or double bed. This is interesting since you can choose to recline only a portion of the seat as you see below. 48 inches is very wide for a seat so this will be very spacious.

Perhaps the most intriguing new feature is the headphone-free stereo system. This will be the world’s first entertainment system that doesn’t require headphones. Instead, each seat will be fitted with built-in headrest speakers to output the sound from the entertainment system.

- wall height: 52 inches
- seat pitch: 51 inches
- seat width: 22 inches
- bed length: 78 inches
- monitor size: 25 inches
