Review: Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge BKK

Before leaving Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, I had the opportunity to check out several airport lounges, and first on that list was the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge! I really enjoyed my time in this lounge and it’s one of my favorite business class lounges to date!

Suvarnabhumi Airport is very well organized and has all of the airline lounges located on level 3 in a long hallway. Level 4 is the departures level so I had to take a short flight of stairs down to level 3. There were lots of signs directing me where to go and it was super easy to find the SilverKris Lounge.

I was amazed at just how many lounges there are in this airport. This sign only shows a fraction of all of the lounges there are.

The SilverKris lounge is located by the D gates nearer concourse F and is one of the first lounges found after turning left from the sign above. The entrance is hard to miss because it’s marked by large navy blue banners welcoming eligible guests.

The entrance felt bold and classy with the the iconic Singapore Airlines logo and SilverKris name prominently displayed in big golden letters against a dark gray marble wall.

Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge BKK Layout and Atmosphere

The SilverKris Lounge in Suvarnabhumi Airport is beautiful. It’s not very large but the limited space is well designed and looks amazing. The stylish lamps and lounge chairs, sleek countertops, various artwork pieces, and intricate flooring give the lounge a modern aesthetic.

There is even a bar in the middle of the lounge that serves as the focal point of the entire space. It features an intricate hanging shelf with dozens of colorful glass bottles and a bar counter with ambient lighting that spans the length of the bar. The bar reminded me of the one in the OneWorld Lounge at LAX but was much nicer in my opinion.

The lounge is well-lit from all of the various lamps and also has windows that allow natural light to filter in. Although the lounge isn’t very big, the bright interior and high ceilings help make the space feel grand and bigger than it really is.

The lounge’s layout is just a rectangular box and is very straightforward to navigate. The lounge entrance is in the middle of the rectangle and after entering, the left side is the main seating area with the dining area and bathrooms on the right. The bar is in the center of the lounge and the perimeter around it is filled with additional seating.

Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge BKK Seating

I had no problems finding an open seat and I think this is primarily because I came around 11:30 AM. All of the Singapore Airlines flights depart BKK either before 12:15 PM or after 3:30 PM so it makes sense that this lounge was pretty empty during my visit. There were about 7 other guests in the lounge and there were tons of empty seats.

I liked how this lounge offered a wide variety of seating options despite its size. The predominant seating option is a gray leather lounge chair and these are scattered throughout the lounge. The majority of these chairs come in pairs and have a mini coffee table in between them.

Near the entrance of the lounge was a seating area with a work counter that stretched across the entire window facing the terminal. I thought the vases of plants and the hanging ceiling lights were a nice touch that spruced up this area. There were also more of the gray lounge chairs and some bigger coffee tables.

The end of this area closest to the lounge entrance featured a pair of modern chairs and a leather couch.

The dining area comes with a trio of 4 seater dining tables as well as more tables that share a long leather bench along the wall. There isn’t much privacy at any of the dining tables and there’s going to be a lot of foot traffic because of how close they are to the food and the bathrooms.

Near the bar is a big communal dining table that can sit 12 people.

The left half of the lounge had a good mix of different seating types. I thought these single-seater chairs with tall backs were fun and added to the modern aesthetic of the lounge.

Along the left wall are a row of single-seater mini booths complete with a pillow and desk table. These seats reminded me of a business or first-class airline seat because of how they came with a pillow, curved privacy divider, and a personal reading light. These are the most private seats in the lounge so if you’re a solo traveler, I’d recommend trying to get one of these booths.

Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge BKK Dining

My favorite thing about the SilverKris lounge was the food selection and it was INCREDIBLE. It was easily one of the best assortments of food that I’ve had in any business-class lounge.

The center island was beautifully lined with an array of hot and cold foods and it truly looked like something I’d find in a high-end buffet. I felt slightly overwhelmed by just how many food options there were and I could easily have a feast in this lounge if I wanted to.

In addition to that, there was even more food along the counters of the dining area. I especially liked how the arrangement reflected local culture with some of the desserts being plated on Thai-style baskets.

Nearby was the glass sandwich platter and the sandwiches were so cute, especially the bite-sized ones because of how tiny they were.

I loved how this lounge offered both local Thai cuisine and Singaporean cuisine. For the Thai dishes, there was pad thai and curry. For the Singaporean dishes, there were Nonya desserts and nasi lemak.

There were also assorted vegetables and pasta too.

One of the coolest things was this stack of plates inside a glass warming cabinet that contained different finger foods like fish sticks, quiche, radish cake, and fried chicken. It reminded me of English tea-time snacks but with Asian delicacies. The radish cake was fantastic and I would recommend trying that.

Even the condiments were great and had a bunch of Asian classics like plum sauce, chili paste, and black vinegar.

I didn’t grab much food but took a bit of the nasi lemak, pad thai, and radish cake and they were all wonderful. I especially enjoyed the fresh coconut!

There was even a pull-out drawer filled with Thai-brand instant cup noodles! I laughed when I saw this because it drove home the point of how the SilverKris lounge really had something for everyone in terms of food.

The desserts were fantastic and definitely worth trying. I’m a big fan when lounges showcase local delicacies and the SilverKris lounge didn’t disappoint on that front. There were classic Singaporean desserts like the steamed layer cake and pandan cake.

The steamed layer cake stood out in particular because of how delicious and chewy it was. I’d highly recommend trying it.

To top it all off, there was Haagen Dazs ice cream in the fridge.

Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge BKK Drinks

There is a single refrigerator containing most of the drinks in the lounge. I could pick from bottled water, sodas, tomato juice, orange, juice, and soymilk. However, the best option was the fresh coconuts!

Nearby is also the self-serve beer machine offering Asahi and Singha. I thought it was great how even the mugs are kept cold in their own fridge.

Lastly, at one end of the bar is the coffee station. I thought the coffee sign was so cute and I couldn’t resist taking a picture of it.

Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge BKK Amenities

The SilverKris unfortunately only has the bar as its sole amenity.

However, the bar is pretty cool because it lets guests order drinks from a tablet on the counter. I believe that the table only had coffee options and not alcoholic ones. After scrolling through all of the options, I ended up ordering the pandan cold brew because that sounded the most interesting.

One of the two bartenders/baristas working quickly prepared the drink and handed it to me in a mason jar.

Unfortunately, the drink sounded better than it tasted because I couldn’t really taste the pandan at all and it just tasted like any other cold brew with a slight hint of coconut. I’d recommend ordering something else like the regular pandan drink shown above.

Besides that, there was free wifi I could connect to and there were lots of wifi instructions conveniently found around the lounge. I had no issues with the speed and connecting was seamless.

Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge BKK Bathroom and Showers

The bathrooms in this lounge are tiny but clean. There isn’t much to say about them except that they exhibited the same modern aesthetic and were well-kept.

One of my biggest disappointments with the SilverKris lounge was that it doesn’t have any showers.

Conclusion

The SilverKris Lounge in Suvarnabhumi Airport is fantastic. It’s a small lounge yet is thoughtfully designed and has an impressive spread of delicious food. The bar is a wonderful centerpiece and comes with a convenient drink-ordering system for guests to use.

My biggest complaints were that the lounge is on the smaller side and doesn’t have any showers. I’d recommend coming to this lounge to enjoy the superb food but going to other lounges for better amenities and a larger space to relax in. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here and would recommend visiting it for the food alone if you can.
